Everything in the universe consists of constantly changing energy, including our homes and their contents. By clearing away clutter and enhancing this energy, we can turn our living spaces not into special sanctuaries for ourselves but also into places that radiate positive energy for the benefit of others.
In this blog, I want to give you some ways to infuse your home and workplace with a very special quality so they become nurturing centers of healing and strength.
The first thing you can do is take a look around your home and find things that you are not using and give them away to someone who needs and will use them. This includes everything from clothing to furniture, especially inherited furniture. Everything we own is talking to us energetically. Imagine the bed that you inherited from an aunt talking to you every night. Do you love what it’s saying? If not, time for it to go. Anything we’re keeping out of guilt or obligation is a health risk. It is creating negative energy. So, let it go. If you need help, get a friend to come over and assist you.
One of the biggest impediments to clearing away clutter and having a clean, organized house is perfectionism. We think the house has to be perfect and every drawer needs to be organized at all times. This is not realistic. It leads to exhausting ourselves by trying to get rid of years of clutter in a weekend. We end up simply exhausted and depressed.
Instead, set a timer and declutter for 15 minutes per day. Then rest. Do not do more than that. You’ll be amazed at how much you can get done in 15 minutes. Stop yourself from doing more.
A great place to start to declutter is your sink. It can be your kitchen or bathroom sink. Make shining your sink each night a habit. You will find that when you wake up in the morning, the sight of a shiny sink is a great way to start your day. A new day—a nice clean space to get ready for the day ahead. Miraculously, when one area of the house is organized, that organized feeling tends to become contagious. Over time that organization will spread.
Some decluttering projects are just too big and too daunting to tackle by yourself. If you find this to be the case then hire a personal organizer. A good organizer can be one of the best investments you ever make. Sometimes it can be very difficult to let things go, but with the right help, it gets easier and easier. Cleaning things out can become exciting. With every load that goes out the door, you will feel freer and lighter.
Let your spirit move you. There are times when you will be really into clearing away clutter and cleaning out. And when one of those times hits, I go with it. For example, many people still have drawers full of files that they have collected over the years. Get rid of them. Throw then all that paper in the recycling bin. With most stuff now available on the Internet, you really don’t want to keep yards of paper that your kids will one day have to get rid of.
Make clearing away the clutter a spiritual experience. Make the act of cleaning an “offering to the Divine.” Let the very act of organizing and cleaning be a reverent ritual akin to reclaiming your own inner order and Divinity. There is nothing more fulfilling and uplifting than making a mundane household chore into a sacrament.
When you’re clearing away the clutter to make your home a sacred space it’s important to prioritize. For example, if you have little kids, go easy on yourself. If you’re working a full-time job you probably don’t have the time or the will to organize your house. It’s much more rewarding to take a walk with your kids or go to the park. You’ll have time to clear away the clutter when the kids are out of the house. Life is short, but there will always be time to organize your house. Don’t make a career out of it.
Your home can resonate, sing and pulse with vibrant light energy that can touch you and the lives of everyone around you. When you organize and clear away the clutter your home can become a sacred space. When you are enveloped in its sacred space, you reconnect with your own energy sources and with the love and the angelic forces around you. You will find magic. love, health, and abundance all around you.
